David Matthews is a Texas native, father, and published author. Getting to a good place in life wasn’t always easy as he had a past that involved drugs, dealers, and law enforcement.  

Through his struggle, he managed to overcome the negatives and now uses it as motivation in his books.  His most recent book, Texas Heat, couldn't have come at a more controversial time but if Texas ever needed a good baseball fantasy, it’s now. And native son, David Matthews has obliged.   

His new novel, revolving one young man's fantastical journey of being drafted by his favorite team, Houston Astros, and becoming the game’s unparalleled star.  Although set in the baseball world, it is not just a sports story, but a captivating novel that tells the tale of the main character who is a superstar on the field, but in real life has a dark past haunting him and daunting struggles he’s trying to overcome. That, the Astros and David himself can identify with.
